Non-Stop Demonstrations, Fire Performer to Showcase Glass Artists in Action
…A truly breath-taking event you won’t likely see anywhere else in Central Indiana will kick off next month with three days of non-stop Glass Artists in Action.
The Hot, Warm and Cold Glass Artists in Action event returns for a second year June 6-8 in Hendricks County highlighting some of the country’s finest glass artists at Hot Blown Glass, Ltd., 3717 S. County Road 200 East in Clayton, Ind.
“It will be action-packed with several versions of what we as glass artists think is, ‘All that is hot,’†said Lisa Pelo, owner of Hot Blown Glass and festival organizer. “These two and a half days of demonstrations will allow you to see a wide assortment of styles, skills and techniques by full-time glass artists, and also glassblowers that simply come out to push themselves handling hot glass and developing this skill set that is very different from their day-to-day lives.â€
The event will open with a bang on Friday night as popular, international glass artist John Miller from Illinois, who is known for his glass art that imitates life, will surprise the crowd with a creation that will remain a secret until the night of the event. Chad Balster will follow up Miller’s presentation with a fire dance performance after dark that is sure to amaze. Friday’s activities will be from 6-10 p.m.
From 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 7 and continuing from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 8, a cavalcade of about 15 talented glass artists will provide non-stop demonstrations showing off a variety of techniques and mediums. In addition to Miller and Balster, some of the featured artists include Pelo, Mark Oberting, Clayton Benefiel, Ann Tudor and Yuri Okamoto. In addition to the demonstrations, the event will include opportunities to meet and talk with the artists, learn about the craft, purchase their work and so much more.
